Description
These are a strong, good quality nail or screw-on insulator designed for use with electric fence tape or rope, making them a more versatile option than standard tape-only insulators.
They will hold 20mm and 40mm tape, as well as electric fence rope up to 6mm, which makes them ideal if you’re mixing conductor types or want flexibility in your fence setup.
The tape or rope sits in the top of the insulator and is held in place by a closing clip. With tape, the slot is around 1mm wide, so thinner tapes will still have a little movement when clipped shut, while thicker tapes will be held more firmly. When using rope, the clip closes securely over the line to keep it in position.
There are fixing points top and bottom so the insulators can be nailed or screwed onto wooden posts. This two-point fixing keeps them firmly in place and stops them twisting over time — a common issue with single-screw insulators that can turn in the wind. Once fitted, the conductor sits approximately 1 inch off the post, helping maintain good insulation and reduce power loss.

Our Opinion
A good quality insulator that allows for a bit more flexibility than our regular tape insulators only because of the additional spacing to hold rope.
If you’re only ever going to use tape, the standard version is fine — but if there’s any chance you’ll use rope, these are the better choice.
