Description

The Firedrake 200 solar electric fence energiser from Hotline is a higher powered unit for longer fences around remote fields. This is the largest solar energiser in Hotline Firedrake range and comes with a five year warranty, all connection leads and a posts mounting bracket in the box.

The electric pulse put down a fenceline is a maximum of 11,000 volts and with 500 Ohms resistance (eg animal touching the line) the charge will be around 4,000 volts so it’s putting out a good voltage. There are 2.0 Stored Joules and 1.4 Output joules which will put a good pulse around 10km

The internal battery is a sealed 12v battery with a capacity if 12Ah so it can store plenty power even in periods where there is minimal sunlight*. The solar panels consist onf one larger panel and two smaller panels which open out when in use and snap into a locked position so they will not close even on windy days. There’s a mounting bracket included which you can screw to a fence and the unit will slide down into it.

*Although solar panels no longer need blazing sunshine for them to charge an energiser’s battery, a bright but overcast day works fine, a charging cable comes with the unit. As with all solar fence energsiers, we advise a couple of overnight charges during winter just to keep it topped up.

Our Opinion
Great to see a larger solar unit from Hotline. The way the smaller solar panels fold out and click into a secure position gives confidence that they can handle the UK’s windy weather and that it comes with a fence support bracket is a bonus too. The five year warranty speaks volumes
