This is a solid galvanised earth post with a wire joint connector for attaching steel wire or a lead out cable to the earth system.

Steel posts should always be used for electric fence earthing rather than copper stakes as the voltage is far greater on coming from an electric fence. They should also be galvanised as a length of ungalvanised steel sunk into the ground will become increasingly ineffective as it corrodes underground.
