Mains Powered Energisers
Mains powered energisers are usually the preferred option for permanent fencing as they are relatively cheap to run and you don't have to worry about replacing or recharging batteries. Due to the amount of power available, they're also recommended for fencing well-insulated animals and keeping out predators.
Mains energisers must be housed indoors in a weatherproof location but are very simple to install. They can be mounted on the wall in any suitable outbuilding with a mains power supply. As the distance to the fence can vary considerably, connection cables are sold separately. Insulated power lead-out cable is available in a range of sizes - this has a steel core, specially designed to carry the high voltage pulses from your energiser. You will need enough lead out cable to cover 2 lengths - the distance from the energiser to the fence AND from the energiser to the earth stake. Cables can be easily hidden for aesthetic purposes - if burying underground we recommend you run it through some plastic piping for additional protection from wear, especially in areas of high traffic.
