It has a 1.5 watt solar panel which keeps the 4Ah 6v battery topped up and the automatic 'night mode' helps keep the power consumption low so it'll be able to power the fence for 3 weeks without sunlight. The output is 0.13 Output Joules so it packs a decent punch for a unit so small and mainly used for anti cribbing lines and cross-sectioning fields.
The build quality is what you'd expect from Gallagher with all that's important easily accessable on the front face. The tough casing has the power & earth terminals, the battery indicator light and the on/off switch all at the top above the solar panel. The underside has a recess that allows the unbit to sit ontop of a steel Ypost of suitable earth stake. The groove at the rear of the housing allows you to hang the unit on a nail/screw on a fencepost.
Very easy to install. Place on ground, or on suitable earth stake, and attach power lead from power terminal (red) to fence and the earth lead from earth terminal (green) to earth stake and swith on. That's it!
