This is a very mobile kit for fencing in your horse and is equally suitable for strip grazing and permanent fencing. Everything you will need to make it work (including the battery) is in the box.
There's a choice of
TWO energisers and the option to add a solar panel to the unit which will help to extend the battery life.
The energisers are the Balfour B250 and Balfour B450. Both are 9v units and use a
non-rechargeable 9v battery although both can run from a 12v battery with connection cables (not included with the kit but can be see here). The Balfour B250 will easily power up to 2km of fence line at around 2.600v. With it's low current consumption and normal/battery saving pulse setting, this will conserve battery power longer than most 9v fencers. The slightly larger Balfour B450 has 0.3 output joules giving a fence voltage of 3,100v and will power around 3Km of fencing and also has 2 pulse settings to save on battery consumption.
The battery is housed in the lower part of the casing and attachs to the underside of the energiser lid which houses the circuitry. It only weighs around 3.5Kgs incl the 55Ah battery, so ideal for strip grazing or situations whre it's moved occasionally.It comes with it's own earth stake (included) and connection cables for the earth and the fence are also included.
We supply a 55Ah alkaline 9v battery with this kit as standard, which should last around 3 months of continuous use, there is an option to upgrade to a larger capacity 9v battery via the drop-down box. A 4w solar panel is also optional. This panel works by powering the energiser directly during the daytime and only when there is not enough sunlight, will the battery take over and provide the unit with power. It will extend the life of the internal 9v battery and will NOT recharge it.
Please note 9v batteries are non-rechargeable and will need to be replaced when they run out. The higher the capacity of the battery, the longer it will last. Normally, a unit with the power consumption of the B250, a 55Ah battery normally provides around 2/3 months power and these increase in size up to 200Ah which will give around 1yr's power. The kit comes with 3' posts as standard. There is an option to upgrade the posts to either our Tall (4ft) Posts or the 4' Posts with Double Footplate (approx 4'2") which are slightly sturdier.
We also supply a gate handle with a couple of gate handle insulators should you wish to make a gate, some ring insulators to give some solid fixings along the fence line, a warning sign and a voltage tester to show you've plenty of power on the fence.
Our OpinionGreat kits with very adaptable units. The battery saving slower pulse rate will save on batteryu consumption and the option to add the solar panel will help keep running costs to a minimum.
